The World of Lanvin According to Alber Elbaz

When I need a little pick me up or inspiration, I know I can count on this short, round, little man, to my left, who wears funny glasses and an oversized bow tie to help me escape. Enabling me to drift off to a fantasy world of colorful design, tulle, gross grain ribbon and bows.

Who is the man you ask? He is my favorite designer Alber Elbaz the artistic director behind Paris' oldest fashion house Lanvin. His design best described in this excerpt from Vanity Fair:

Revered by his devotees for his ability to fathom the female psyche, launch trends, and utter oracular pronouncements, Elbaz, this time around, evoked through ingenious layering, quilting, and draping the sense, he says, of a strong, controlled woman who in private “collapses.”

After all, Elbaz points out, the logo of Lanvin—the oldest couture house in Paris—“is a mother and daughter. Very young, very old, cool and not cool, from the North, from the South. All of these women can wear Lanvin and for me this is like heaven.

Below is a photo love journal I have put together of my favorite things past and present of The World of Lanvin according to Alber Elbaz.

Starting off with shoes and accessories, here are some pictures from the  present Spring 2010 Season. The heels I feature here are killer. The ankle strap and chain detail along with the asymmetric heel make for nice eye candy, or in this case foot candy. I'm so sick of Christian Louboutins, you know they are played out when J.Lo has a song about leaving her man in them.

Sticking with my Spring theme, here are some looks Mr. Elbaz did dating back from Spring 2007 all the way through to the current Spring 2010 season. I never get sick of looking at his collections new or old, they just make me happy. I love his choice of colors he highlights in his  collections, always sophisticated, never too bright and still feminine even when he's doing men inspired looks. I always look forward to what he'll come up with next or how he'll reinvent a particular style or silhouette. Alber, I heart your creativity and all you do to keep fashion evolving and exciting!
