Scarface

Has anyone looked closely at the latest Vogue cover of Tina Fey? Well when you do you will see something noticeably missing. Yep, that's right her scar. I guess Anna Wintour doesn't celebrate them nor deem them fashionable. I think what Vogue is failing to recognize is that it is one of the 30 Rock's star endearing, relateable qualities. It's part of the every girl formula that makes the writer/ actress' (Liz Lemon), witty, smart girl persona, pretty!

I'm not saying there is anything funny about her scar or that it should be exploited. It's known that the actress was slashed in the face by a stranger at the age of 5 while playing on her front lawn. I'm sure this is something painful and still traumatizing to Fey's psyche. She rarely speaks of it publicly.

But I do think people want to see her as they know her, scar and all. It's part of her beauty and originality and it SUCKS that it's been removed off the cover photo.

I wonder if Tina minds this at all? Is she just like the rest of us, covering up things that make us feel less than good about ourselves inside and out. Or is she just accepting that when a magazine like Vogue comes calling to put you on the cover of their magazine, you just shut up and do it?

I don't want to sound like I'm against retouching, I'm not. I think it's a necessary part of the smoke and mirrors of fashion, beauty and advertising. I just feel something like an obvious scar on someone's face should not be removed as if it never existed. It's not a pimple, but something that makes up someone's uniqueness, and what makes Tina Fey who she is on and off screen.

Tina, you look beautiful either way, I hope you spoke up and said something if this was done without your knowledge. Vogue has yet to comment on this matter.

Do you think Vogue was wrong in removing Tina Fey's scar? Please post your comments below.

I dont know about everyone else but i think photoshop is out! iI rather see enhanced photos ...and leave everyones face alone! I sat directly across from Anna at shows and its too bad that she thinks that the public WANTS this... btw..she could use a lil photoshop! ha!

It makes me mad that we can't embrace the beauty of ageing, and life's little wears and tears. I'd prefer to see realistic and natural images of people and disclosure when images of people have been digitally manipulated. Sal

Firstly, I must be one of the few people who did not know that Tina Fey was attacked when she was younger, but to be fair I do live in the UK and not everything filters through to us mere Britons unless perhaps you are deliberately looking for information on said actress.

Secondly, the picture looks absolutely stunning and Tina Fey looks absolutely stunning even with the scar on her face.

I don't think the scar should have been removed but airbrushing and digital manipulation is becoming increasingly popular as it becomes even more advanced. There seems to be no limit to what you can do to an image with a computer these days.

I think Tina Fey looks gorgeous.

I agree..It is too bad our flaws can't be celebrated.. I do like some touch ups because i am old and would want to look pretty on a cover.. Hopefully the magazine discusses and gets approval from the cover models before print.. Does the model speak out against the magazine once they know they were wrong to sign off on the mag cover? Do you bite off the hand that helps promote you? I have always wondered. Thanks for the discussion.

I think people on covers get photoshoped too much, I didn't know the history of the scar either, Tina is a beautiful woman, and looks great either way

Hmmm...don't see them retouching scars off the faces of actors. I guess on a man it's attractive, but women have to be flawless. I don't know why I would be surprised...it's always been that way. It doesn't mean I have to like it. Scar or no scar...Tina is a talented and beautiful woman.
